Homegirl had WHAT for breakfast?

It’s no secret that health food bloggers are an innovative bunch in the kitchen. We substitute like there’s no tomorrow and we eat things that most people wouldn’t touch with a ten foot pole.

This morning, out of necessity, I scarfed a combination that even had me raising eyebrows.

My step-kitties somehow crawled on top of the freezer (where my roommate keeps their kibble) and managed to knock the door open, so the bananas I had freezing for a soft serve breakfast were a puddle of brown mush when I woke up and trodged downstairs for food. How charming.

After a quick perusal of the fridge, my body asked for a veggie burger topped with peanut butter sauce.

As I type that, all I can think about is how dreadful that sounds. Veggie and seed pattie + PB for breakfast?

It wasn’t very good at all, but I won’t go as far to call it the worst thing I’ve ever eaten. I think that award is reserved for the eel with horseradish sauce I bravely took a bite of at a friend’s seafood dinner. My tongue still hasn’t forgiven me for that one, two and a half years later.

What’s the most horrid thing to ever cross your lips?

  1. I think the most horrible thing to cross my lips is something that’s crossing my lips for a second time, on it’s way out. A few of my favorite foods have been ruined for me that way!

  2. “It wasn’t very good at all” <– haha thanks for being honest. I lik to think I'm innovative but I have at LEAST 3 duds/week in the kitch.

Hahaha- I saw the pic first when you called it the weirdest thing ever- and thought- what? that looks really good! But, next time Ill read first. Dont worry, Ive had waaaay worse so Im not judging (Id just rather not talk about it)….

Hahaha, love it! Go with your gut, that’s what I say! Maybe your body was craving some nutrients that could only be found in that particular combo?

  5. spoonfulofsugarfree says:

Eeew! That’s nasty!! How did you ever come up with that combo????!! Hahah….the funny things us foodies will do πŸ™‚

And I actually have tried an eel sushi before, and it was the most wonderful sushi I ever tasted! It must have been the certain kind of sauce they put on it, though….

One of the worst things I ever had (that I can remember) was a vegan, gluten free brownie without sugar I made up when I was like 12. I started mixing a bunch of different things like bananas, applesauce, cocoa powder….any way it turned out like a big block of rubber stuff that tasted burnt and banana-y and nasty! I couldn’t eat it….

It’s sad that something with Peanut butter wasn’t enjoyable. Something gross that I’ve had is a Spinach Flatout wrap, I used to love Flatout wraps, but I guess the green color just turned me off!

  7. Kelly says:

Too funny! I can’t say that I would have ever thought of that on my own! πŸ˜‰

  8. It doesn’t sound very good either – hahaha, but I love that you tried it!

The grossest thing to ever cross my lips was a piece of blue cheese.

  9. Krista says:

    Eggplant. Hate that vegetable!

I have trouble believing *anything* with peanut butter could taste bad, but I’ll have to take your word for it. x)

I once roasted mushrooms in nutritional yeast. It smelled, and tasted, like disease. Yuck. =P

  11. Hahahah ewww!! Sometimes you have to go against everything you read and ignore what your body is telling you ^~

I think my unluckiest food experience was liver when I was a very little girl. I was told that it was a piece of steak – IT MOST DEFINITELY WASN’T. I almost hurled =\ ugh.

  12. Its questionable that I would even post this publicly… risking making people sick… but the grossest thing I ever ate was a chickpea stew when I was in Spain. But the gross part wasn’t the stew. It was the unidentified snout with whisker hairs that was found in the stew. Sorry. You asked… πŸ™‚

I just this morning tried a new fancy-schmancy yogurt that was incredibly disgusting. it tasted like (bad) sour cream, not yogurt. blech.

  14. […] blur of bananas and salads. Not together, obviously. Because that would be gross. And I don’t eat weird combinations. […]
